10 Years Old and Under

FAST-D together with  United States Tennis Association is offering a 6-day tennis clinic under its 10 and Under Tennis program. The program is a revolutionary change in the way kids learn and play tennis, as well as compete by tailoring kids tennis equipment and courts to a child’s size and age so that they develop skills and have fun right from the start. 10 and Under Tennis is structured for kids to learn tennis and rally and play quickly in a way that is both enjoyable and rewarding.

Tailoring equipment and courts so they are sized appropriately for kids makes the game more accessible—and more fun—by allowing kids to get involved right from the start.  10 and Under Tennis eliminates waiting in long lines to hit the ball and the frustration kids feel at not being able to rally.  Kids will enjoy playing the game right away and will keep coming back for more, developing a lifelong passion and appreciation for tennis – also helping to grow your tennis program.

When: Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30PM (June 20 through July 25, 2012)

Where: East Hills Middle School tennis courts

2800 Kensington Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI

Cost: $30 per child, which covers  tennis appropriate racquet, team uniform, foam/low   compression ball, USTA junior membership and Ace’ Kids Club Package including a cooler bag, water bottles, sunglasses and other fun tennis items.

Note: While the program is designed  for 10 years olds and under, we can accommodate a few 11/12 years olds.

Jared Ocampo, son of Maria and Jasper Ocampo is April's FAST-D Youth of the Month. Jared participated in the Michigan High School Athletic Association 3-Point Shootout at Michigan State University on March 24. This event features the top 20 shooters in the state of Michigan. Jared led all shooters in the first two rounds and tied for second in the third round where the top two advance to the finals.Unfortunately, Jared came up short in the tie-breaker against the eventual champ from Zeeland East.

Jared currently is a sophomore at Clawson High School and a 3.0 student. Thus far, Jared is a striker on the varsity soccer team, a pitcher/second baseman on the varsity baseball team, and point guard on the varsity basketball team. His athletic accomplishments include being MVP of the Clawson Holiday Basketball Tournament and achieving All-League MAC Silver. Aside from sports, Jared volunteers his time helping Autistic children in Clawson.  He loves playing X-Box and hanging out with friends.

The final youth volleyball clinic will take place this Friday, March 30 at 7PM once again at East Hills Middle School.
